He is a big deal for a variety of reasons besides just playing well. He is an Asian American in the NBA, maybe the first one there has been. He went to Harvard, not a big basketball school. And he was cut by at least one team already, and was almost cut by the Knicks too. He game off the bench out of obscurity to be a star player just in the last week. He has been trending on social media sites and all sorts of new words have been created using his last name to add to the Linsanity. He is like a gladiator that has a whole empire chanting his name.
